Having a website that drives conversions is already a big advantage. Now imagine multiplying that advantage by 2, 4, or more. Incredible, right?
You can do this today. Figuring out how much it costs to translate an online store or a website in 2025 is simple.
Yes, you read that right. Many of my clients ask me what makes a translation expensive or cheap, and my answer is always the same: it depends on the return. Wait, what!?
Yes. If I tell you the translation costs 100 USD and those 100 USD bring in 1,000 USD in monthly revenue, does that sound expensive or cheap?
Translation is one of the few investments you pay for once and profit from forever.
It really depends on how big, complex, or time-sensitive your project is.
Here’s the problem: many freelance translators and agencies will charge by hour, word, language or a hundred other things you don’t care about.
Stay away.
They make it so complicated, it’ll drive you crazy.
The simplest way? Charge per word. If not possible, per hour. Always with standard rates or a fixed price.
If someone starts adding extra charges for every little thing... Per language, per market, per platform—that’s a red flag. It’s boring, confusing, and a total waste of time.
Fixed price. End of story.
But if hiring a freelancer or an agency still feels complicated, unnecessary, or like a waste of money…
A friend of mine sent me this message recently:
"Hey Sergi, I’m losing it. My boss asked me to translate our website (over 200,000 words) because we don’t have a budget. I’ve been at it for two months and I’m going insane…."
He’d spent countless hours translating his company’s ecommerce by copying and pasting into Google Translate. It’s an option, I guess.
But with the salary and time he wasted on it, if they had hired a professional, the site would already be translated, live, selling.
And profitable.
A massive waste of time. A half-finished website. A site that doesn’t sell. A cost instead of an investment.
And a lousy translation nobody understands and care about.
If this ever happened to you (which I hope it hasn’t!), you’d still end up needing to hire a translator. A real one. Someone who knows how to play the game.
Would you ask the guy sweeping the streets to refurbish your bathroom?
Translation works the same way.
As a top website translation specialist who has worked with clients like Canva, Red Points, and Silverbird, I can tell you this: the price of a website or eCommerce translation always matches the size of the business. It’s always an affordable investment that helps you grow x2 your business.
When it’s done right, it pays for itself quickly. The proof? Our clients keep coming back.
"We’ve been working with Sergi for several months on Spanish, German, French, Portuguese, and Dutch translations. It’s been a great experience!"
